Substance Abuse Treatment Program
In addition to understanding symptoms of substance dependence, our substance abuse treatment program assesses each individual’s entire history of substance abuse. Our team may also look for other co-occurring addictions, such as abuse of opiate painkillers or other prescription drugs that may have been a precursor to substance abuse. We also consider efforts the user may take to cope with the side effects of long-term dependence on substances.
Our substance abuse treatment program also digs deeper than many drug rehab centers into the underlying causes and conditions of the entire addictive disease process. As a result, our team often identifies co-occurring psychiatric conditions or eating disorders, ormay uncover other addictive behavior patterns deeply intertwined with long-term dependence on opiates. If unaddressed or under-addressed, co-occurring disorders commonly trigger repeated relapses.
Each individual who seeks help at LA Treatment Center in Los Angeles, California will receive a substance abuse treatment program that focuses on their strengths. This individualized, medically-based approach to treatment and recovery succeeds where other inpatient drug rehab programs may have failed. It helps individuals and their families reclaim their lives from substances and look forward to the future.
What Makes Our Substance Abuse Treatment Program Successful?
This collaborative approach is one of the distinguishing elements of substance abuse and addiction treatment at a leading rehab center like LA Treatment Center in Los Angeles, California. It’s also one of the reasons why so many leading outpatient drug abuse and addiction specialists refer their patients who need more intensive treatment, or who have struggled to sustain substance recovery in an outpatient setting.
Assessment of an individual’s treatment needs begins early on in our admissions review process. We ask both the individual and her family to provide information about their drug abuse symptoms, roadblocks to success in work or school, and challenges with loved ones.
We also request their consent to speak with previous addiction treatment providers to gather additional information about medical history, psychiatric history, past substance abuse treatment progress, and stumbling blocks to achieving or maintaining recovery from dependence on substance.
Once the client is admitted, each individual undergoes a comprehensive medical and psychiatric assessment.

What To Expect at Our Substance Abuse Treatment Program
Each treatment team member provides an assessment within the individual’s first days at LA Treatment Center in Los Angeles, California. The findings are integrated and reviewed with our entire clinical staff, including other therapists and psychiatrists. As a result, our full knowledge about successful addiction treatment is integrated into each individual’s treatment plan.
We believe it is critical for each individual to take ownership of their treatment and recovery from the outset. Once an addiction treatment plan is formulated, our team’s recommendations are shared with the individual in their first care conference, which will include their primary therapist, family therapist, psychiatrist, discharge planner, nursing staff and lodge staff.
This cooperative approach gives their input into the goals for their treatment and allows them to choose several elective elements of the program. The individual will be asked to sign off on their treatment objectives and the progression of their treatment plan for substance abuse or addiction, and any other co-occurring disorders. This conference also sets stage for ongoing collaboration between the individual and their treatment team throughout their stay in residential treatment.
Following the initial care conference, the treatment team will meet weekly throughout the resident’s stay, and consult each other informally to monitor their progress and to make sure their recovery needs are being fully supported. If new symptoms appear, an individual may also undergo additional psychological testing or medical evaluation to ensure their substance addiction treatment considers all relevant aspects of their health.
Additionally, individuals with other medical symptoms or complications from prescription opiate dependence, anorexia, or bulimia may be referred to consulting healthcare providers such as a neurologist, orthopedic surgeon, cardiologist, gynecologist, dentist, or gastroenterologist.
